Finding ways to volunteer with kids and your family can be challenging.  Here are a few ideas:



Donate Books
Friends of the Brookfield Library are now accepting books, DVDs, video and audio tapes for the Spring Book Sale. The books can be dropped off at the library, 3609 Grand Blvd., Brookfield at the circulation desk.  Tax slips are available.  Friends of the Library is a non-profit organization and the proceeds of the book sales go towards the purchase of equipment and furniture for the library. Kim Litland, Library Director, has offered to waive any outstanding fines for over due books (not lost books) for the donation of a bag of books. This offer ends March 30, 2009.

Military Christmas Cards
When doing your Christmas cards this year, take one card and send it to this address. If we pass this on and everyone sends one card, think of how many cards these wonderful special people who have sacrificed so much would get.

Eye Glass Collections
The Riverside Township Lions Club sponsors eye glass collections.  Glasses are refurbished and given to people in developing countries.  Visit www.lionsriversidetownship.org for more information.


Plymouth Place
The Baby Brigade has been revived (it was a regular happening as many as 19 year ago) where kids played and residents visited with moms, babies, and kids.  Bring a toy and/or book for playing.  The Baby Brigade is one way, but there could be others that fit your availability and interests.  Contact Mary Mackey at 708-354-0340.
